Week of White - Living Rooms

I'm dreaming of a white...............everything

Good morning everyone!

How are you all doing?  Is the weather as gorgeous where you are as it is here in Montreal?
Warmclearblueskies kind of gorgeous?

My mind has been in decor mode for the last 2 weeks now that we know we're moving ( our house sold - you can see our current house HERE ) and the new place will include lots and lots of white - mainly white in fact - something I've never done in my life ( which is pretty shocking because I'm SUCH a black and white person )
I thought this week I'd go room by room and show you my inspiration pics - so today's room is the living room.
( and of course that's if we get this house otherwise it's back to the drawing board )

Doesn't that bench in the below photo remind you of the one that John built a lttle HERE ?

Here's John's -

  1. I'm with you on the whitewashing of new house. It will look amazing. That fireplace will look fabulous with white.

  3. I don't envy you your packing to move, Suzan. We have never moved in 36 years of marriage!! It would be awful but sometimes I think it would be great as I would actually get rid off a lot of stuff. I like white rooms as long as there is some colour in it. With a white palette one can change decor and colours easily but I really do prefer some colour in my home - not bright but warm. We do live in Canada after all. I like colour in the long cold winters to make it feel cozy. Did you have your Thanksgiving dinner already? We had ours on Saturday. Today is yard work day. Have fun packing!

  4. I'm sick of beige too. And while I'm not having an all-white interior, I AM having lots of white trim. Have you made an offer? Inquiring minds want to know...

  5. Suzan, as usual, I will be doing a ton of pinning before I leave your blog. Thanks for sharing all these beautiful "shades of white" with us dreamers. Hope you had a great Canuck Thanksgiving. I have been learning a lot about your beautiful country from your blog. Hope to visit it firsthand before I die. So far, the closest I've come in the Canada pavilion at Walt Disney World. Thanks for the decor inspiration and ideas on this post!

  6. You'll have so much fun decorating a new home. I'm just wondering if you would paint the floor and the ceiling white. I so love the natural color of wood....it goes with any decor. Wish I was there to help you pack! Sweet hugs!

  7. Ooo those are so pretty! I love John's bench - perfection! I've always wanted a white room but before I know it, color has sneaked in. Lol. I painted all the paneling and cabinets at the farm white and what a huge difference it made. Wish I was there to help you pack! Can't wait to see what you do to your new place ( keeping my fingers crossed for you!) Happy thanksgiving!
    Hugs, Cecilia

  14. You can never go wrong with an all white base and add in pops of color seasonally!

  15. All white? Wouldn't that be chilly for your cold climate. I like warmer whites. If we ever move, we will sell the house as is and just walk away with nothing! I hate packing. Good luck with the new move.

  16. Was recently watching a couple of cute Canadians, The Property Brothers and they took a lady's wish for all white, added just a bit of color and grey, and it was so perfect. Love those guys. Love the white rooms!!!

  22. Love all the inspiration here. John would never go for white and although I love it I need some color. We are more of the soft muted gold's and Historical colors by Benjamin Moore for khaki colors. I hope you get this house. Did you bid yet or are you still thinking about it?

  23. Love the white - but I wouldn't be able to whitewash the wood floors. And that stone chimney - stunning! Fingers crossed you'll get it.

  24. Love the house you have chosen - hope all goes well. I love the white inspiration photos but I do have a question. Will the house not feel colder, during the winter, with that much white? As a fellow Canadian I know that whites can sometimes "feel" cold and I wonder how you are going to deal with that? BTW - Happy Thanksgiving to you!

  25. It's a charming little house. I know you will make it amazing. Can't wait to see the transformations as they happen :-)

  26. I hope you get that house Suzan. It is soooo cute and the idea of all white is fabulous. I love all white rooms personally. Although at the same time you do need a hit of black to make the white pop.

  31. Looking forward to seeing how you implement the all white plan...I can see why these photos inspire you. Love the clean and peaceful feeling of all white!

  32. I kind of like all white because it leaves lots of room for adding pops of seasonal colors throughout the year. Every time I move and start packing, I swear I'm going to start the minimalist life style..LOL!

  33. Packing and moving is no fun, but decorating a new place will be a fun challenge and I can't wait for the "John said, Suzan said" about the move.

  34. I love white everything, too - but my dog is always a bit dirty, even though she is not allowed on the furniture. So, white it is, but mixed with other colors! ;-)

  39. I love the house Suzan and am praying that you get it. I am a fan of white everything so I am with you on all of the decorating choices. I just did the beige box thing and it is not fun. Because I moved across country everything had to be boxed, my collection of mirrors and nick nacks is not fun when you have to box them. I had 12 mirror boxes, 2 wardrobe boxes full of lamps etc and 35 rubber made totes. And all of that is in storage for now until I have a plan. Cost me double what the movers had quoted, make sure you check out references if you use a mover. Can't wait to see what you do to the house and crossing my fingers that you get it. hugs Tobey

  40. Beautiful pictures! I have no doubt your white house will be gorgeous when you are through. I'm doing our house white and I've never done it before either. Funny how certain houses just call for it...I think its all the wood or something. It just needs white.
