I WANNA live there # 41

I live in a pretty incredible area - in Montreal, It's an historical neighbourhood loaded with tons and tons of charm - and 20th century architecture, just steps away from the city center, it's also a pretty expensive neighbourhood ( in which I live in servants quarters basically compared to what I'm surrounded by )
Because there are days I don't have furniture makeovers to show you - I've chosen Wednesdays to showcase and feature one or two homes that are for sale around here.................( or apartment - or duplex - or teepee )
Keep in mind this is in the heart of the city - so the prices reflect that  - think Manhattan - where these places would cost 3 or 4 times what they're listed for here!
On occasion I'll showcase beautiful homes in other areas - countries - continents - the one thing most of them will have have in common will be their age - because I love old homes with stories to tell, join me won't you?

We have pre-war homes. flats and apartments in Montreal (like Manhattan) meaning before World War II
But the South has Antebellum homes - which are also prewar - but the CIVIL WAR...........now that's a home filled with history.

Series within a series - I plan on doing a mini-series ( like North an South ) within the I WANNA live there series just for these homes - they're so spectacular they deserve to have their own!

Antebellum Homes
Antebellum architecture (sometimes spelled ante-bellum, meaning "pre-war", from the Latinante, "before", and bellum, "war") is the neoclassical architectural style characteristic of theSouthern United States, especially the Old South, from after the birth of the United States in theAmerican Revolution, to the start of the American Civil War.[1][unreliable source?] Antebellum architecture is especially characterized by neoclassical and Greek revival style plantationhouses and mansions

Part 1 -
This week we have this one in Washington, Georgia -
just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind
well an old sweet song and this house

house size 5,500 square feet

What a gorgeous home but take a moment to check out the furniture!!!

I don't know where to rest my eyes with this house really

The west side porch (excellent swinging porch) overlooks the steet side yard and an original ornate well house while the east side porch (excellent rocking chair porch as evident by the many rockers) overlooks an inviting 18 x 36 inground pool tucked privately in an area amid gardens, meandering walkways and lovely gazebo. There is also a charming GUEST HOUSE on the grounds along with several quaint barns and farm structures.

here's where I'll put you up when you come to visit
OMG I'm so in love with this listing

and lastly for your listening pleasure
the great Ray Charles and Willie Nelson
have a wonderful Wednesday
much love,

My Romantic Home

  1. Magnificent home that very much reminds me of my last husband's family home in South Carolina. It doesn't take too much to imagine Miss Scarlet lounging on a chair on the front porch. In particular, I loved the child's room. And all those fireplaces! You can forgive the strangely outdated kitchen when a house is this fabulous. Actually, the house just stands on its own merit. Thanks for finding this one!

  2. What a grand home. This is so beautiful. I could live in the guest house!!!! I have always wanted a home with a little guest house out back. This is really a show stopper.

  3. It's beautiful, but I can't get past how much of a challenge it would be to make bright and cheerful while respecting the integrity of all of it's historic details. The wood is drop dead gorgeous.

  4. Hi Suzan, I grew up in the south so I have a great appreciation for these beautiful homes, my small home town has so many, they are gorgeous. I haven't heard Willie and Ray in a while, thank you, I really enjoyed it.
    Have a great day.

  5. They all have that historical feel I love. They're huge, and gorgeous.

  6. Wow....gorgeous! I could visit you if you lived in Georgia.

    1. Isn't it something Lorraine?
      I'm in love..............

  7. It's like stepping back in time. Until you get outside and see that gorgeous pool. Lovely!

  8. Those are beautiful homes. It's like stepping back in time :)

  9. Hi Suzan, Washington, Ga is a beautiful historic town filled with gorgeous homes like this one. Steve and I visited several times when we lived in Georgia. This home is gorgeous and I especially love the outdoor area and pool.

  10. Gorgeous house, Suzan. I would love to stay in that guest house. The architectural details are amazing throughout. Thanks for sharing.

  11. That house is amazing, the wood work, the ceilings, the furniture, the art, wow... but I would be perfectly content in that little guest cottage, if you're so kind as to invite me... My holidays begin on July 5th... Waiting for you to send me an email before I buy the plane tickets!

  12. These are just beautiful, I would take them for sure. Love all the woodwork and that wood ceiling. Truly stunners!

  13. Oh, what an incredible home. I love historical homes. I wouldn't have thought people in Washington State would have swimming pools. I guess I thought it would be too cold there for much swimming season. The interior of the home has so many details. I love the staircase.
    Thanks, Patty

  14. The house is impressive, but I LOVE the song. And Willie. And Ray.

  15. It's a beautiful home. But I think I'd even be happy in the guest house, with the nearby pool. Susan
