Let's make a deal

It's done!
And I want to keep it - except as you know by now John is insisting we sell it - so we've made a deal -
I'll list it for sell for 2 weeks - and if no one bites - than it's mine - I have to be fair after all.
He doesn't have to know that I'm going to list it for 4000,00 dollars, does he?

Here it is in all it's filthy grimy dirty state!
Oh let's get a before ( I almost forgot I'm so excited to see if you guys like it as much as I do )

I swear this picture almost hurts my eyes - that's the brightest orangey wood I've worked on I think
After you look at the after photo - come right back to this one and you'll see what I mean!

and NOW

Ok - I thought I could hide it - but as you can see I didn't finish the bottom of the legs yet lol - couldn't lift it, so have to wait for John -
And I haven't dirtied up the far left hand side of the dresser yet - God I can't get away with anything, can I?

What do you think?
Do you want to see some close ups now - oh I'm so glad that you do because do I ever have close ups for you!

This is my Batman photography skills - and not the movie versions you " under 50's " - the t.v. version from the sixties - they used to angle the shots............................

This is my " special lighting effects " photography skills

My " up close and personal " photography skills

My " bird's eye view " photography skills

John was walking by as I was taking this shot

John says - What the hell are you doing standing on the dining room table?
Suzan says - Trying to get a bird's eye view shot of the dresser
John says - Why?  You going to try to sell it to an eagle?
Suzan says - If that's your attempt at a joke you'd better go to bed John
John says - Why - you think you're the only one that can be witty?
Suzan says - THAT was not witty - that was just stupid really - not funny at all
John says - Bet you'll tell your bloggers what I said though
Suzan says - No, I'd be too embarassed to tell them that actually......................
Suzan says - I'm not happy about listing this John - I want to keep it
John says - 2 weeks Suzan - 2 weeks - that's all I'm asking for 2 weeks
Suzan says - You sound like a parakeet
John says - What?
Suzan says - forget it ...................

And one last time!

If anyone is interested in purchasing this - I'll give 500.00 off to blogger friends - so 3,500.00
Otherwise it's staying right here, ( where it most definitely belongs )

I've had a furniture makeover week from hell this week - not with this piece - but with a dresser and coffee table - I'll share in the upcoming posts

Have a wonderful Friday dear friends of mine!

I used Duck Egg Blue and White - Annie Sloan to customize this color

  1. Suzan, It is gorgeous I would be keeping that beauty. What a transformation, you did an incredible job. It really is a beautiful piece you have to keep it, tell John (because Tobey said I have to keep it lol ) Its like real estate, its an investment, down the road it will be worth so much more, then you can sell it. My hubby falls for that one, see if John will. have a great weekend, take some time off, you work too hard. hugs Tobey

  3. Suzan, Your post is the first one I read this morning at 5:24 in the morning and it was a wonderful way to help wake me us. I was laughing so hard hearing your conversation with your husband. Your funny! Husbands...they just don't understand but ya gotta love em! I'm in love with your piece. I'm guessing you used the Annie Sloan dark wax on it to dirty it up? If so, I can't find her products close to me anywhere, do you have any suggestions as to what I can use instead? I'm soaking everything in since I'm a newbee at this stuff and trying to learn how to do it. It's so pretty!

  6. Keep it....don;t even list it. It is a fantastic piece and one you may never find again. You did a brilliant job. Do you do faux marble finishes? The top would be stunning with a fine vein of marble running through it.

  7. What a beautiful transformation! You did a great job on the colors. I hope you get to keep it!

  8. Oh and by the way, Thank you, Thank you!! for the no-reply blogger help! I just was notified by someone else that this was an issue this morning and was freaking out trying to figure out how to fix it. Then god sent me you with the simple fix posted right on your blog(did you do that just for me? ;). Perfect! Thanks for stopping by my blogging and for following me (I'm following you too now!)

  22. OMG! This piece is absolutely breathtaking. Nice job. I love your husband story. We are moving to Florida cuz hubby is retiring. I am putting him back to work, as our plans are to open a vintage accessories and furniture boutique, hopefully adding a line of chalk paint. I will have a job outside of the boutique, the reason he will be manning (pun intended) the boutique. He is remotely as excited as I am about this venture, as he has been abig supporter of all of my "mess," as I repurpose. Gotta love the ASCP, as you can do it inside without the stink!

  32. Hey, it's Sugar from The Other Me Is Sane. I'm your newest follower. I think I would sell the husband before I'd give up that piece of furniture! Seriously, I love that piece.

Did you age it with Annie Sloan's dark wax? I have some, but haven't gotten brave enough to try it until I get around to getting some clear wax to use with it. But, I would really like to know how you aged it as it is perfect to me. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I loved hearing from you and finding your blog. 66. This is so beautiful now. I know what you mean wanting to keep it. I am working on a gorgeous buffet that I will want to keep but I would have to part with something else to be able to do that. Wow your price is very high...wish I could get that kind of money for my pieces.

  71. Suzan it is gorgeous! And in my favorite color. The top almost looks like marble. Is it just white paint? You did a fantastic job and I'd say, yes she's a keeper! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
