Before and After Chaos

I should start this off by saying that John is one of the greatest guys out there - he has a huge heart and a very giving spirit - he can adapt to almost any situation he finds himself in - and will never - ever say " no " to anyone in need - ( well except to me - he's definitely learned to say no to me )
In the midst of dinner plans - he will actually stop what he's doing to go pick up girlfriends of mine that have no way of getting here - AND will sustain from drinking so that he can then drive them home when the evening is over.
He would give his last 20.00 to someone in need.
He will rearrange business appointments to pick up a piece of furniture I found on Craig's list.
He'll jump up and go to the store for me at ungodly hours because I feel like a little bit of chocolate.
He can very easily " go with the flow " and for the most part I marvel at his patience and gentle soul.
BUT DEAR GOD HE CAN BE SO EXASPERATING AT THE SAME TIME.
The house is currently in a state of chaos - and yes I know we're moving but I'm not good with this -
AT. ALL.
I get flustered - and anxiety ridden - and nervous - and very very crabby when I have to live like this

Soda's barking at me
John's barking at me
I'm barking at John
I'm barking at Soda........................

Last night John settled on the bed to watch t.v. -

Suzan says - how about if we pack for a couple of hours tonight -
John says - we'll start tomorrow, how's that?
Suzan says - I started 2 weeks ago - I'm getting nervous - you need to help me with this John -
you can't keep saying " tomorrow "
Suzan says - We only have 2 and a half more weeks here

John flies off the bed - very very irate - and storms off to pack  -
I lay on the bed -

John says - What the hell are you doing - I thought you said we should pack?
Suzan says - Well then I thought about it - why do I have to pack along side of you when I've already packed aproximately 150 boxes???????????????
He comes back into the room

John says - Ok - I packed a box
John says - Ok - I packed A box
( hope you're getting this )
John says - I'll finish up tomorrow

And that means - everyone - that John has now packed a box and a half - and I'm not joking
and I'm not exaggerating - and I'm not lying - John has packed A BOX AND A HALF...................

This is the one he started 2 weeks ago - it's still sitting in the office

and he packed this one tonight

AND I'VE JUST REALIZED HE DIDN'T EVEN FINISH PACKING THIS ONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm seriously considering this box a waste of time - because I think I'm going to unpack it and drown my sorrows :)

If any of you remember - last month when we decided to list the house - I asked him to clean out his cupboard....................he assured me would - the next day - it was seriously the ONLY place I didn't clean out and organize - simply because I'd have no idea where to start - and he gets furious with me when I do

Well so far - the buyers have seen it like that
Their bank's Appraiser has seen it like that
The Surveyor has seen it like that
And this weekend the buyer's contractor came by to take measurements -
and he saw it like that as well................

Suzan says - aren't you embarrassed?
John says - well they had no damn business going into our personal closets
Suzan says - they're buying the house !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! of course they're going to look in the closets
Suzan says - I posted a photo of it on the blog you know
John says - YOU BETTER NOT HAVE
Suzan says - Relax - I'm just joking.........................
Suzan says - But I'm starting to feel really nervous about all the work that has to be done in the new house
John says - Why?  We'll get in there and tackle it all right away........................

LAUGH MY HEAD OFF - OR SCREAM MY HEAD OFF - NOT SURE WHICH TO DO RIGHT NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

15 days left
And there's only so far that gentle spirit of his will carry him......................

Have a good one :)
Much love,

The New ' Hood - and wish lists!

Good Monday Morning everyone -

We decided yesterday to go for a drive - and then a walk - around the new neighborhood -
It's quite charming really - no 2 homes are alike - and most are tiny - like doll houses ( with a few larger ones thrown in here and there )  I feel like the Harper Valley P.T.A. Mom moving into June Cleaver's territory to be honest with you - this sweet little area won't know what hit it LMHO

It's a very mature neighborhood - the homes are older - the trees are very old - it's very " leafy " and pretty
and charming and OMG I think it's boring....................lol - tres boring.

Anyway I have to tell you something funny - Montreal is known for their food - all kinds of food - I think it's safe to say for a long time it was the restaurant capitol of Canada ( Toronto and Vancouver can most definitely fit in that category today ) and any time ex pats come back for a visit they usually are dying for Montreal food - often that includes foods from greasy diners..................
So on the way back today -

Suzan says - I'm dying for a club sandwich and fries
John says - Ok - I could go for that
Suzan says - as we order - I'm going to miss this
John says - They have diners all over the West Island ( the area we're moving to )
John says - The West Island is on the Island of Montreal
John says - You're carrying this too far now - it took us 10 minutes to get back into the city today

BWAAAAHHHHHH - I'm peeing my pants here

Suzan says - I feel like we're going to be ex - pats LMHO

Then we went to Home Depot - to check out some kitchen cabinetry - I kind of found something I like
( Oh - by the way - I'm not installing any upper cabinets - only lower and shelves - and I have the top of a wall unit - with long glass doors that we'll be installing some way )

Here's the cabinets - they look kind of boring - but trust me they're really nice lol
The counter top isn't too shabby either - although I think we're going with white marble instead
but love the sink - it's one of those very deep ones.......................

And we picked a floor - it's the only thing we both agreed on completely really -
It's an engineered click on floor - and it's vinyl - but it looks exactly like driftwood -
and it's the one - it's most definitely THE one.

Is that the perfect color?

My Son and Son in law will be taking care of the kitchen - this will be the first time we're not hiring anyone to do renovations - fingers are crossed - they'll come in the weekend after we move to do the demo and the weekend after that to assemble.................hopefully in the course of the week in between we'll be able to have the window replaced in the kitchen - and 2 shorter ones installed - above the counter that will be going across the room - I'm going to be kind and say that back in the day people didn't put much thought into kitchens as a general rule - but this one in particular has the oddest placement for the stove, don't you think?
I feel the fridge should be there - up against the wall?

The drop ceiling will be torn down too - with something like this installed directly onto the ceiling instead
I'm loving this particular one actually - it's not overly silver or white - just looks perfectly aged to me

source
Ok let's see - is that it?
Oh - I just went back to look at the photos I took lol - the downstairs bathroom -

That tub and shower doors are getting outta there!!!!!!!!
Perhaps something like this - which is surprisingly affordable - and I don't think it's necessary to have a bathtub on the ground floor at all

and I think I may use this as the vanity ( which I was supposed to sell but decided to keep )

It has a glass top - so we'd just need to drill a hole for plumbing and we're set to go - I think I have to keep it silver because this one has already been painted far too many times already and another coat of paint will make the bathroom smaller than it already is lol- you can see it's revolution here - Once - Twice - Three times a lady

Leaning towards this for the floor - first choice

source
or this - second choice

source

However it may be totally necessary to have this in the upstairs bathroom ( next year ) again surprisingly affordable

Now I'm done - I covered our walk through the new 'hood -
I've covered our wish list from Home Depot -
And our craving for completely-terrible-for-you junk food

That was our day -
How come junk food looks so incredible when you're hungry and absolutely disgusting once you're full?

Have a wonderful Monday everyone
( Oh and is anyone else as excited as I am that Wally Lamb has a new book out? - Now if only I had time to read it !!! )
