Her Crowning Glory ( and another one arrived )

Good morning all!

I finally finished the mirror that goes with the princess

chalk paint, custom color, creating, duck egg, old white, dresser, princess, antique

I had this old mirror that I've tried to imagine on many many pieces - but it was usually just a little too large
( this dresser is wider then it appears )

Suzan says - John where's that shield shaped mirror
John says - Aw come on - you're not going to stick that on top of this dresser?
John says - You'll ruin it
John says - I don't know why you bought it - it looks like a horses A$$
Suzan says - can you bring it upstairs please?

Mirror, dresser, chalk paint, white, dresser, makeover

Now those of you with eyes that actually work - will notice the 2 sides are not the same on the bottom part of my mirror -
Being someone who's eyes DO NOT work - I never noticed it - even as I painted it - I never noticed it until the next day actually -
How is that possible, you ask?
I don't have a clue - but it's a little scary, don't you think?

It was a very quick fix - John sawed off some wood on one side to make them the same...........

chalk paint, mirror, before, after, makeover, dresser, princess

ahhh that's better - now what do you think - I personally think it looks like a crown
and not what John thinks at all - who's on my side on this one?

duck egg blue, antique, makeover, chalk paint, montreal

and we picked up this pretty little thing

As I type this I haven't seen it in person yet -
but I couldn't resist...............

Have a great Thursday - one and all!
Much love,

Suzan

Spring in Montreal...................

DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THIS.......................

It's Tuesday - March 19 - roughly 6 o'clock in the evening  - I need to run to the store to pick up a few things
Care to join me for a beautiful Spring Walk?

The plow hasn't been down the street yet - how lucky!!!  OK let's go - the store's only 5 minutes away.

Westmount, Montreal, Spring, Snow, Heritage Home Fronts,

I may have bragged for the last couple of weeks that the snow was melting and it was very spring like here
in Montreal
SHUT UP SUZAN -  seriously, just SHUT UP - you'd think I would know better by now .....................

snow, heritage homes, westmount, montreal,

Can you hear the birds chirping in the trees?

tree, snow, montreal,

Do you see the " buds " on the bushes ?

Don't these " Pines " make you think of summer by the lake - adirondack chairs and camp grounds ?

Doesn't this no parking sign scream " Tulips " ?  Just the right amount of color to send my heart soaring in hopeful glee

not enough color for you?
how about this big beautiful bouquet of Street Lights ?

and it's not ALL red - there's splashes of blue too!

Birds are starting to build their nests

Spring planters are getting filled

Terraces are almost ready for the outdoor patio sets

So if I did commiserate with any of you last week ( quite smugly I would guess - because that's what I DO )
over all the snow you had -
And if I did unintentionally intentionally brag that it really was Spring Like here in Montreal - all I can say today is
PAYBACK'S AN ITCH..............it really is

Do you have a " Spring " in  your walk yet?
Does this help?

nah, I didn't think so - I'm going to go eat my words with a bag of chips I just picked up at the store.
If I can't have spring - I can most definitely eat a bag of chips - the whole bag by the way -
because that's what happens when Mother Nature messes with me...................

O Canada! Our home and native land
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise
The true north, strong and free
From far and wide, O Canada
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free
O Canada! We stand on guard for thee

except when it's like this Canada - then I'm all like
"Oh say can you see - from the dawn's early light............."

from somewhere in Florida

this is what I got to hail tonight ( at the twilight's last gleaming )

I will ALWAYS stand on guard for you, Oh Canada
But right now,  I wish I could do it from Florida................

Montreal - where you can get 3 seasons in one week, lovely isn't it?
Just freaking lovely!
Happy Spring Everyone :)
It looks a little better today - no less snow - but the sun is out -
Thank you Mother Nature for that, at the very least! ( and I promise - no more gloating )

It's ( STILL ) Christmas time in the city

The weather was unseasonably warm on the weekend - gorgeous really -
In under 2 weeks we went from a record breaking snow fall

to this

John and I decided to walk - a long walk - a 2 hour walk - with my camera in hand.....................
as the day progressed and twilight fell - the magic happened - Christmas hasn't left at all
I loved seeing that the city was lazily holding on to the prettiness ...................
It spoke to me -
And this is what it said

Welcome back - it's good to see you

come stroll awhile

 we did this for you

enjoy the magic of the season

take a break - remember to breathe - to sit - to relax - to enjoy

you were too busy shopping and wrapping and cleaning and cooking and decorating - to take the time to notice

we're not going anywhere just yet

let us cast our magic upon you for awhile

take it all in

look in wonderment

let your heart sing

we decked the halls for you my friend

but you scurried here and there and never noticed

you forgot about us - the streets of your home - once you packed it all away

and it says

with every step I take

slow down

you're going too fast

you've got to make the moments last

the way you once did - long long ago  - when every moment was a life time

this year in particular, Christmas flew by far too quickly, did yours?

life shouldn't be a blur.....................

I'm not ready to let go yet

I can't bear the thought of saying goodbye to Christmas yet - even though half of blogland is busy taking down and putting away -  I walk by my Tree and I think " Oh no, I can't throw you in the garbage, you need to stay for just a little longer....................

and how can I pack away all the glitz when I'm still in love with it all?

It can't possibly be over

When it still makes me happy to look at it

So I'm going to pretend it's still December 24th

for another week or so

until I'm ready

absolutely

positively

ready to let go

of the beautiful memories I have of this Christmas

Have any of you vanquished decorations from your home yet?
What happened to waiting  until Epiphany?
I always thought that was kind of like a rule, you know, as in you can't wear white after labor day, type of thing lol?
