HELLO?

Is it me you're looking for?

Whenever John walks into the house he bellows out " HELLO ? "
Sometimes I'm expecting it and I simply say hello back
But sometimes I'm concentrating on something and don't even hear the door open - so that booming
" HELLO ? " can almost give me a heart attack.
Seriously - I just about jump out of my skin !

Now you have to keep in mind that this could mean just going outside to rake - it's every time he walks in whether it's because he's been on a business trip ( which is perfectly understandable)
or whether he just ran out to the store.

So I thought he'd LOVE this sign !
I ran outside while he went to Home Depot and promptly put it on..............and waited

and it worked !
this time he didn't belt out HELLO !
instead

John says - WHY DOES IT SAY HELLO ON THE FRONT DOOR????
Suzan says - I find it welcoming - and now you don't have to worry about saying it every time you come in !
John says - The mat say " WELCOME " - the door says " HELLO "  what's next - are the windows going to say " HOW ARE YOU " ?

He's dead serious when he says these things.
I - on the other hand - am doubled over - he has no idea how hilarious he is.

Later on when we were watching t.v. - out of the blue

John says - Maybe you should put " GOOD - BYE " on the inside of the door.
Suzan says - Maybe I should put " DON'T LET IT HIT YOU ON THE WAY OUT "
John says - Nah - that would just be rude.............I'm not rude
Suzan says - HELLO?

Have a great day everyone !
I'll be spending a good part of it untangling lights because I never learn to put them away properly.
Hugs,

FOR THE BIRDS..............( a Christmas Miracle )

John says - You decorating bird houses too now?

Suzan says - I certainly didn't - I thought maybe you did !

John says - I don't have time for this nonsense - you said you were too busy last night to get those invoices done - instead you're decorating birdhouses
Suzan says - I DID NOT DECORATE THAT BIRDHOUSE
Suzan says - I just put it outside the front door last night and when I awoke it looked like that !

Suzan says - If I didn't do it - and you didn't do it - O.M.G. !  IT'S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE !!!
John says - It's a miracle that you're not in the nuthouse..................
Suzan says - I've got to call the kids - they simply won't believe this !

When I came back the birds had added a little garland on the fence and put up a wreath -

John says - You still at that thing?
Suzan says - Listen - I'm going to tell you for the last time - it isn't me decorating it - it's GOTTA be the
birds !!!

John says - That's all going to blow off outside you know
Suzan says - That's not going outside - are you crazy?
Suzan says - They made it for me obviously
Suzan says - I can't wait to see what the squirrels come up with !

This takes the place of I WANNA live there Wednesday this week - it's a house after all :)

John says - It's overkill - there's too much on it
Suzan says - You're even complaining about how the birds decorate now?

Have a wonderful day one and all - I have some invoices to take care of............the birds aren't going to do it.

Hugs,
Me

IT'S ALL ABOUT WREATHS................( affordable ones )

I bought the above wreath (12 of them actually ) at the dollar store !!!
3.00 each - they come in silver - gold - green or red.............because the front door is red I chose a gold to put on it - same style - with red bells - but I ended up putting it in the house because it didn't feel right............
All the red ones are in the process of being hung on outdoor windows.

I bought the bells separately - they were 1.50 each and fill it perfectly -
Hold on a sec.........I gotta figure out what they all cost..........
WOW !  36.00 dollars for the wreaths themselves - TWELVE OF THEM !
( you know you need sleep when you have to use the calculator to figure that out - I don't know what's happening to me - brain freeze I suppose )
As you can see they're just tinsel - ( I've got a way to hang them securely so they don't blow all over the place )  but I like the bling and I really didn't want to spend 60.00 per wreath !
Thought I'd share with you in case YOU didn't want to spend 60.00 per wreath either :)
These could so easily be a DIY with a wreath form ( or hanger ) and tinsel !

Have a great one everybody!
Hugs,
me

A Plank Christmas Tree

The balance of our fence planks.
There aren't very many of them left at this point LOL - BUT it paid off big time buying just a little too many of them !

Let's see now -

1) A plank wall

2) A faux fireplace

3) Artwork

4) Built in bookcases

5) A CHRISTMAS TREE !!!!!!!!!!

This is a tall one - I made it for the mantel and it almost reaches the ceiling ( we have very high ceilings here )

I spray painted screws in red - to mimic berries - and to allow something for the ornaments to hang from at the same time

The long ones hold the planks onto the back post - the smaller ones are so that I could hang as many ornaments as possible

The hardest part of this project was screwing in 100 screws - the second hardest was threading the string through the minuscule holes because I couldn't find my glasses ( I thought that was spelled miniscule - thank God for spell check )

Wood Christmas Tree

The ornaments were purchased at Michael's a couple of years ago when I made my first pallet trees !

But I ended up stencilling on them instead

Wood Plank Christmas Tree

When I think of the chaos of last Christmas I don't know how we lived through it - seriously -
With a kitchen down to the studs and the filth and muck and mire............and pipes breaking on Christmas Eve so that we couldn't even bathe on our way out to my daughter's
O.M.G. - it was a living nightmare - and not one I think I'll ever be brave enough to face again
( but then again - who knows - I'm not all " there " )

DIY Wood Plank Christmas Tree

John won the war of the " Sled on the Mantel "

It's now in the den - I was going to put it outside ( but I was afraid someone would steal it - is that paranoid or what? )  You can see the post on my Black and White and Red all over Christmas HERE

Wood Plank Christmas Tree

Does anyone think I should stain it darker?   I'm so close to doing it

Soda says " Enough ! "

Oh my gosh I LOVE this little girl !
She came out of the den and asked to be picked up while I was taking photos - she loves to be in the room when the fire is going.................it feels good on her old bones ( and mine actually )

Have a wonderful day everyone -
Much love,

Easy DIY Christmas Wreaths

Good morning everyone !

I had a bunch of garland that we used to use outside on our veranda in the city - it was a little " beaten up " from the elements - and since we no longer have an outdoor veranda in the front - I decided to repurpose them into wreaths.

I simply cut them with wire snippers to the desired length and folded each end into each other and voila !

New wreaths for the kitchen

The great thing about making them this way is you can customize the size of them - I wanted small ones for the kitchen buffet -

The pine cones were already a part of this garland - but it would be nothing to add some to these -
Or anything at all for that matter !

I hung them by placing a tack on the inside of the doors and draping the ribbon over ( so I wouldn't damage the front of the doors ( who cares about the back of them, right?  lol )

And so a new obsession was born, just like that

One ( oversized ) garland made all these - they're just waiting to have red berries attached to them

I think I have 4 more garlands - so this shall be named " The Year of the Wreaths "

Have a wonderful day !!!
Much love,
Me
