Sometimes It's all about me

This is what happens when you take on a monumental home reno !

1)  You get old.  Fast.

2)  Your sleeping patterns are what morse code looks like ( a few dots here and there )

3)   Your hands start looking like contractor's hands

4)   Your feet?  Fuggedaboudit

5)  AND you miss 8 months of hairdresser appointments - 8 MONTHS - so that even if you usually sport
bangs ( which do miracles to hide the aging process - and of which I desperately need ) you are now walking around like this
NOTE :  Sunglasses also help with the aging process - I have mine on all the time - I sleep with them on too.................John hasn't seen my eyes in 8 months.

You won't ever see a lot of photos of me on my blog - ever.
I think I've posted 4 posts with photos of me in them in the 3 years I've been blogging and 3 of them were jokes - the 4th which was my daughter's wedding was mandatory :)

See that schnoz ?
That's one of the reasons you will NOT see a lot of photos of me - some women's butts spread - my nose does ...............I'm thinking it'll reach my ears by the time I turn 60

Just a side note : I'm always amazed when I see a woman my age - 55 - that suits - looks fabulous even - without bangs.
And there's a lot of them that do!
But I need them.
What on earth am I waiting for?
It's like I moved into this house last winter and totally gave up on everything..................

( I'm even more amazed that 55 year olds take selfies LMAO )

AND I'M most amazed by the fact that yours truly used to go to the hairdressers once or twice a week -
What in God's name is happening to me?

_______________________________________________________________________________

ok - so here's the story - someone dared me ( at their request they shall remain anonymous - weird I know - but I know who they are - I wouldn't do this for a totally anonymous person because that would be even weirder ) then double dared me to take selfies ( including my face - unlike the first one I took HERE )

The conversation went something like this
" how come you never post photos of yourself "
" because I'm very uncomfortable with it "
" I dare you to do it "
" That's weird "
" I double dare you "
" That's even weirder "
" I'll donate 25.00 to the SPCA if you do it "
" Make it 50.00 and I'll think about it ":

I win the dare this time - but it ain't happening again LMHO
Sooooo - here goes

Here's me trying to be cool - and failing miserably (so you just have to take my word for it - I really AM cool)  Peace Peeps ! ( do people even still make the peace sign? )

Notice the one leg up on the John?  ( that's what cool people call the toilet, I think  )
That's my cool nonchalant pose.

Wanna see the cutest sandals ever?
( the jury's still out on whether people with the ugliest feet on the planet should wear pretty sandals or not )
BUT there's no denying that only a cool person would wear them, right?
( do you know how hard it is to take a photo of your sandals in this direction?  Try it ! )
I'm becoming a selfie afficionado !!!

And in my humble opinion only a very very cool person would post photos of herself ( when really she'd rather swallow shards of glass ) on a dare - that would benefit the SPCA in some small way.

Let's see now - I've made good on a bet - ( I WANT to see that receipt )  and I've cried me a river..............so.........enough with the pity fest....................and no more dares being taken on
( for the foreseeable future anyway )

I plan on posting this on a Sunday because it's the day I get the least traffic - and really I'm half way tempted to just send a cheque to the SPCA myself and forget about this all together.
I wrote this up last Monday - let's see if I actually go through with it :)

Have a wonderful day all !

  2. I am so overdue at the hairdresser and I need a mani/pedi badly. I have no excuses - at least you have a reno going on.

So what was John's reaction to this post?

  3. I wish I looked even half as good as you!
If we're taking pics of the furniture and even a part of me is in shot I insist we delete it (I don't want to scare the customers).
I haven't had a haircut for nearly a year so I look like a yeti and NO ONE not even Colin gets to see my legs :-D

    1. PUHLEASE Gerry!!! I delete practically every single photo of me that's taken -
I allow one in a hundred to stay and I'm serious about that - my poor kids will have no photos of me when I'm gone ( I think of that )
I have vericose veins - wrinkles you could bury treasure in ( worry line between my eyes which for some reason doesn't show up in the photo )
Have a good one honey ( and Thank you :)

  6. I just love this! And you are adorable :) I took some selfies to try to compare my (almost 53 year old) face before and after using a new "miracle" anti aging product. Let's just say I never took the "after" pics...the stuff didn't work, haha.
    You are rocking those sandals!

  7. You are beautiful and totally rock 55! 55 and you can still wear a sleeveless dress! I hate you. Not really...but kinda. To borrow and bastardize a quote - when I wear a sleeveless dress it looks like I am a flying squirrel in drag. When I wave goodbye, the other folks have been gone for 5 minutes before my arms stop wagging in the wind. I posted a selfie right after I got my cute new haircut...about 9 months ago. Haven't had it cut since except I hack at my own bangs. And, yes, I have bangs...must have bangs. The sandals are darling. And you do not have the ugliest feet in the world. I do. Mine look like troll feet. TROLL feet! Just try to imagine those in a pair of cute sandals. I would wear hiking boots year round except that they look terrible with a suit.

  9. I think you look amazing, girl! 55? NO FREAKING WAY! Stop being so hard on yourself. Why do all women do that? We are our worst enemy...LOL... And I don't think you need bangs. Your hair looks terrific this way. Don't be afraid to show photos of yourself. You look great.

  10. Suzan, you are gorgeous, and this isn't me just saying that, 'cause I have to write something nice in Comments...There is no way you look 55, you look at least 10 years younger...I hope I look that good when I'm your age...Oh, wait, I'm older than you, so skip that one. I just noticed recently that my feet have gotten old. I used to think that even if I didn't look good in clothes, I'd still look good in shoes, but now, not so much. Love your sandals, and you look great bang-less!

  11. Suzan you look gorgeous. You should take more pictures of yourself! You do not look 55.
Wow for not being to the hairdresser for months your hair looks awesome. Love the new sandals very cute.

  14. In the bathroom? Real klassy! At least the toilet was clean! LOL You can find tons of epic fails where it isn't: http://www.epicfail.com/ Remember: those who see your face aren't judging it on wrinkles or age or any imperfections. All they see is a mom, wife or friend. You matter to them, as they matter to you. No one else is more important than you are to them! Make more pictures with you in them! You matter!

  15. Such bad luck for you that after missing I don't know how many posts of yours due to slow old computer, the one I happen to readis this one! I love where you chose to take your pictures! I need bangs because for some reason my forehead is older than I am... But then I don't feel like myself with them! And yes, renovating a house makes you neglect yourself... I can't remember the last time I put nail polish... It's probably all dry in its little bottle now!

  16. You are gorgeous! Seriously! If I looked as good as you I'd be doing shelfies. Really. Patty/NS

  17. aahhhh, you are adorable! ........I can totally relate to what you were saying about your hands looking like contractor hands though. because I do a lot of DIY I never have time to do my nails. I ways say "when I am done with this project, or that project, I will do them" and I never do until I FINALLY get tired of looking down at my hands and seeing chipped polish and hangnails! LOL But seriously very cute pics and you rock it at 55!

  19. You look just great, Suzan and I think you are one of the coolest folks I know and the funniest to boot. You are a fabulous painter--an artist, but you could be a comedienne. I laugh myself silly every time I come over here to visit. Thanks for all those extra laugh lines this old gal got this afternoon reading your blog! Have a great week!

  21. Gotta say.. I'll be 75 in September...but I'm ok with that, cuz here I am...and looking pretty good for my age... (so I've been told) what really is looking not good? I don't know..but I still fit into my same earrings that I wore in high school..(read that on pinterest) and I'm cool with that.We are what we are, and I am happy with me..I think that is the most important way to feel about your age...Be the best you can be!

  22. Well so much for no traffic on Sunday's? Look, at almost being 64, I'm only aware of is that my boobies have taken to heading in another direction, than the one I'd like them to be taken. so spreading nose is good, it's falling boobs that are no longer any where near where they should be, but are getting closer to china than they should be!

  23. You're adorable. I'm 52 and I believe in bangs too. Lol. Love those sandals. I always wonder why we are so hard on ourselves. I think you deserve a day if pampering after all the hard work you've done AND for posting selfies for a good cause. You rock!

  24. You look fabulous! I am the same as you, I delete almost every photo of myself. I just hate being photographed because I see all my faults. I have so many photos of my husband with my daughter at all the places we go on vacation, it looks like THEY are a couple!

  25. Hi Suzan! I can completely relate to your post. My husband and I purchased a 105 year old farm house in May 2013. We have spent every single waking minute(when we are not working our paycheck jobs)working on the house. We do not live in it yet, still live in the city but make the 90 mile commute to the farm at least 4 times a week to work. Sometimes I think about my life bf(before farmhouse) and miss the mani's and pedi's and the every 6 week haircut and root touchup. Not only do I not have the time but all extra money goes into the farmhouse.... we are very, very close to being able to move in, hopefully by the first week in July. When we do get moved and somewhat settled the first thing I plan on doing is driving back to the city for a full day of pampering, might even throw in a massage too! BTW, I think you look absolutely fabulous and commend you for posting selfies for such a worthwhile cause. One of the reasons we decided to move to the country was so all of our rescues would have more room to run. We have 5 dogs and 1 cat. The farm came with another cat and 11 miniature donkeys!

  26. Suzan ! OMG ... You are gorgeous! My husband just looked over at my computer and said " Who's the hottie ? " I have gone for the first time in my 49 years... bangless for the last 3 months. I felt like the world was looking at my face which I hated.... but wow... on hot days.. having all that hair off my face is wonderful !! My bangs were my security,,, taking away from this pointy nose of mine! You are a beautiful gal .... pull those long bangs back.... I dare ya ; ) I hope I look half as good when I'm 55 !! Have a great week... Kisses!

    1. Well you tell your husband to get his glasses back on LMHO !!!
And then you tell him this 55 year old lady thanks him from the bottom of my heart!
Suzan yells - JOHN - someone's husband just called me a hottie
      John says - that's nice - where's the remote?
I'm not taking any more dares Shell - and I can't see me taking a photo with my hair pulled back unless you donate 100 dollars to the charity of my choice LOL
and even then there's only a 10 percent chance I'll do it!

  33. LOL Suzan, I think your adorable and I am never photographed because I take the worlds worst pictures. I am not kidding my own dad says to me "what happens to you in a picture, I know my daughter is a cute girl but, in pictures you look like death" Now that is from my own father so you know it is true. No one tells the truth like a parent. That is why no one has ever seen me. I am going to give it a whirls in the new house. My hopes aren't high.

  34. I love this post! You rock Suzan, and I love your selfies, (even though I totally relate to your feelings about them. honestly I feel flat out ridiculous taking selfies) and considering all the work you've been doing on the house, you look fantastic! I sure admire your energy. Our house deal just fell apart tonight when the seller pulled out right at the last minute. What else is new? But I guess by the time I get into a place...at least ill be ready for some fixer up projects.
