Client's update ( dining room set makeover )

Good morning everyone.............

I have to give such thanks to all of you for being so understanding this week - I feel terrible - I'm behind with comments ( hundreds of them ) and I haven't had time to visit - I just keep posting and posting and feel I'm not doing my share here in Bloglandia.................
I really will catch up on the weekend!

Ok - this week was a little messed up - I worked at April's on Monday afternoon -
Tuesday morning I checked my messages and there was one from the doctor - I had forgotten all
about a follow up appointment from that fiasco in January - and had already forgotten a prior one so
had no choice but to bail out on April for the day..............
Went again on Wednesday -
Thursday April had previous plans - so I made other plans - then she was able to cancel hers - couldn't cancel mine - so another write off............
Went again on Friday - forgot my camera................
I brought the 4 chairs home to do from here ( I HATE doing chairs lol - but they take the longest so better I spend a couple of days here doing them )

So here's where we stood after a day and a half - ( wednesday before I left for the day )

painted, dining room table, pedestal legs, mahogany, ascp, french linen, old white,

including 2 leaves - I'll have to get a close up of those legs because they're just gorgeous!

Mahogany, Dining table, Antique, pedestal legs, ascp, french linen, old white,

from " meh "

painted, antique, buffet and hutch, ascp, french linen, old white,

to such elegance - God I love this piece - it's casual sophistication - an oxymoron I know but that's how I see it now - it doesn't look stuffy and formal - not finished in these photos but almost -

painted, antique buffet, hutch, before, after, ascp, french linen, old white,

painted, before, after, mahogany, antique, sideboard, buffet, ascp, french linen, old white

painted, before,after,antique,buffet,sideboard,mahogany,annie sloan,french linen,old white

There's a technique that's being applied to make it look kind of like " driftwood " turned out gorgeous -
But I'll save that until it's finished.

I swear to you, I didn't realize how absolutely beautiful this set was until it was painted - the details on each piece are just amazing!
Once again, I'm in love with inanimate objects lol

April and Vladismir ( you know I'm using Aliases here, right?  Don't ask me how I picked Vladismir when her hubby has the most North American name you can imagine lmho,  had an almost identical set in their garage for ages - couldn't sell it - they finally got rid of it last month - I would have bought that in a heart beat - and apparently they had to let it go for almost nothing  )

If I don't speak to you this weekend - have a lovely Easter weekend

Much love,

Before/After Dresser - Meet Brigitte!

Good Morning everyone!

Another before and  after................finished last night

french provincial, 70's, vintage, before,

I Sprainted the pulls for contrast

SPRAINTED
Simply Vintageous Encyclopedia of Bloglandia
Verb - action
To Spray Paint.........
e.g. He sprainted his bike.....................& she sprainted the pulls for a dresser redo

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, French Provincial, Painted dresser,

In this photo you can see how shiny a surface you can get with the ASCP wax just by buffing

ASCP, Paris Grey, French Provincial, Vintage, dresser,Painted

dresser, paris grey, ascp, painted

Those curves!  Those legs!  That Frenchiness!  I painted out the trim on the top in white to
" accentuate the positive "
What else could I name her but Brigitte ( as in Bardot )
She is definitely the Brigitte Bardot of dressers............................

painted, dresser, trim, ascp, french provincial, paris grey,

Don't you see the similarities?

Ok - I was a little shy to admit this - but that's not Brigitte - that's actually me - I had John take the photo last night - I'm in my painting clothes as you can see .....................

John says - What are you giggling about now? ( we share an office - and he's over my shoulder like a hawk sometimes - it's very hard to blog with a hawk over your shoulder )
Suzan says - I put a photo of Brigitte Bardot on my post and said it was me
John says - You'd better put a disclaimer on that - you can get in trouble for that

BWWWAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH - Suzan says - Do you think anyone would believe that was me in the photo?
John says - It doesn't matter - you're claiming to be someone you're not - there's laws about that

Talk about taking a fun moment - and dumping a can of paint all over it..................ok ok - I'll show you a real photo of me then.

Talk soon!
Much love,

Disclaimer:  I am neither a Brigitte Bardot NOR a Bo Derek
I'm just a Suzan ( from Simply Vintageous )

Thanks so much to the following ladies for featuring Brigitte!  I'm beyond flattered and thrilled ;)

I WANNA live there # 31

I live in a pretty incredible area - in Montreal, It's an historical neighbourhood loaded with tons and tons of charm - and 20th century architecture, just steps away from the city center, it's also a pretty expensive neighbourhood ( in which I live in servants quarters basically compared to what I'm surrounded by )
Because there are days I don't have furniture makeovers to show you - I've chosen Wednesdays to showcase and feature one or two homes that are for sale around here.................( or apartment - or duplex - or teepee )
Keep in mind this is in the heart of the city - so the prices reflect that  - think Manhattan - where these places would cost 3 or 4 times what they're listed for here!
On occasion I'll showcase beautiful homes in other areas - countries - continents - the one thing most of them will have have in common will be their age - because I love old homes with stories to tell, join me won't you
_________________________________________________________________________________

Good Morning everyone!

I just want to add a little comment of my own here before we start - for the most part I adore these houses for their architectural beauty - for their century old heritage - this was why I started the series in the first place, not for how the individual home owners decorate them - anything can be personalized the way anyone sees fit - my goal here really is to show how beautifully built these old houses were - sometimes they are decorated completely to my taste and that's a bonus - but even when they aren't - they are still uniquely special - and worthy of a look - see.  I would rather point out the beauty - then focus on some aspect I don't like.................I have very very seldom walked into a home - at any point in my life - and not been drawn to the potential - no home is perfect -
but in my mind these century old ones come pretty close!

Okay we walk by this gorgeous block a lot with Soda - I love every home on it - talk about architectural eye candy!!!

A striking example of Heritage Westmount Architecture and style circa 1921. Described as ' A Victorian Fantasy marked by Moorish themes in the book Montreal's Little Mountain, this home boasts exquisite woodwork, lofty ceilings and intricate plaster mouldings. The unique leaded windows allow for tremendous light.

1,495,000.
4 bedrooms
3 baths
1/2 bath
Realtor - Liza Kaufman

Ready to take a peak?  I just love the transom over the front door!

Perfection - those windows?  O.M.G.
I spy with my little eye a gorgeous mirror over that mantel

basement?

I just love how the deck is in a little " niche " like this - so private and beautiful

That one had me drooling from start to finish - I would most definitely WANNA live there!!!

This next one up is listed for 1,080.000 in a prime location - you need to put on your
" potential " glasses for this one - but's a great opportunity because it has an apartment in the basement to
offset the mortgage ( or use as guest quarters )
5 bedrooms
3 bathrooms
1 powder room
Realtor  Caroline Rouleau

Paint - paint - paint - gorgeous chandelier - that's all this room really needs

I love that the kitchen has a " nook "

Washer and dryer - you're outta there -  those kitchen cupboards on the left hand side must be originals -
I grew up with those types of cupboards - they almost look like furniture, don't they?  They HAVE to stay!

Bedroom with wood burning fireplace - yes please.................

Bedroom with seating area - that could easily be converted to an awesome walk in closet - complete with chandelier!

Gorgeous!

beautiful detail - paint it white!  ( sorry wood lovers )

basement apartment

Does anyone else see the potential in that one?
I'd just love to get my hands on it - really I would - would it help if I showed you what it's right beside?
Westmount Park

even the park's conservatory has architectural charm!!!

All that in the " heart " of the city - walking distance to downtown Montreal - theaters - shopping - incredible restaurants -
Now does that house have potential?
Mmmmm, me thinks so - me thinks I would defnintely WANNA live there!

The snow is melting rapidly here - I have hope that Spring is actually on it's way lol -
( although everytime I say it we seem to get another " dump " )

Have a happy hump day all :)
Much love,

one more for the road - here's a painting done by Ingrid Harrison of a winter stroll in Westmount Park
