I WANNA live there # 37

I live in a pretty incredible area - in Montreal, It's an historical neighbourhood loaded with tons and tons of charm - and 20th century architecture, just steps away from the city center, it's also a pretty expensive neighbourhood ( in which I live in servants quarters basically compared to what I'm surrounded by )
Because there are days I don't have furniture makeovers to show you - I've chosen Wednesdays to showcase and feature one or two homes that are for sale around here.................( or apartment - or duplex - or teepee )
Keep in mind this is in the heart of the city - so the prices reflect that  - think Manhattan - where these places would cost 3 or 4 times what they're listed for here!
On occasion I'll showcase beautiful homes in other areas - countries - continents - the one thing most of them will have have in common will be their age - because I love old homes with stories to tell, join me won't you?

Good Morning All !!!
We're headed to Normandie, France today - and you don't even need a passport to come along with me!!!
Annie Sloan has a vacation place in these here parts - let's see why.

First one up is selling for 196,100 Euros - unbelievably great price for what you get
Right Move Overseas
This is a beautifully renovated spacious famiily house situated in the country a short walk from the nearest village and about 25 minutes from the sea. . The towns of Coutances and St Lo are within easy reach as are the ferry ports of Cherbourg and Caen. The nearest village has a variety of shops, a school, bar, bakers etc.. and the village itself is lively with many activities taking place in the local Salle des Fetes.
Centrally heated, four bedrooms a substantial garage, two living rooms, two kitchens, two staircases three showerooms 2wcs this would make an ideal residence for an extended family or even b and b/gite and house. The property has been well maintained to a high standard by the present owners as have the beautiful gardens. Additional accomodation could be available on the first floor as there is room to expand. The garage itself has a room above and is double glazed.
The layout of the property would suit an extended famiily or a family with frequent visitors who like some independence - a little gite or a b and b activity or just one big family home.

Does it " have " you yet?
Let's get inside this beauty!
C'mon ladies - you can dwindle around on the grounds after we've done the tour - I'm dying to get in this one :)

Those distressed chippy doors made me gasp!  This series is becoming a health concern for me

Elegant early 19th century "Petit" Chateau set in 30 acres of landscaped gardens and grounds, located in the picturesque Swiss Normandy national park. The property which is approached via a gravel drive off a country lane sits in tranquil landscaped gardens with an ornamental lake fed by the river Vire. The property is ideally located for activity holidays, walking, canoeing etc and within easy walking distance of a village with restaurants.

Clearly we're living on the wrong continent........................
What do you think of these - are you amazed by the prices?
Just to keep things in perspective - my teeny tiny little 2 bedroom flat here in Montreal has been valued at 500,000 dollars - hmmm - North America may just be inflating housing prices a tad,
d'ya think?  Those " big guys " need their bonuses after all!
Have a wonderful Wednesday :)

  1. Oh my.....I will take any/all. My kids never come home anyway.

  2. Ohhhhh they are all beautiful but I really like number 1. Love those arched doors and windows. Beautiful is an understatement!!!! Thanks for sharing these gorgeous properties.

  3. I love all of them, we have been house hunting and we have our eye on a house very similar to the first one. We have been on the fence about it because it does not have a garage, but after looking at these pics of stone homes I think I can live without a garage for a bit. Aren't stone homes stunning. will let you know how things go with the house hunting. hugs Tobey

  4. It's always nice to see how the other half lives. :)

  5. With our Rand value {against ANY other currency!} I won't even be able to afford a wooden shack in any of those areas! I do, however, love the "little" chateau ;-)

    {Now, daydreaming in my common 3 bedroom house worth a measly R 750 000...}

    With A Blast

  6. I'm definitely going with the first one, Suzan. I've always wanted to see that part of France, although I speak not a word of the language, so that makes it a little difficult. The castles are just way too...too...something. Big? dark? Not sure what it is, but unless I get a free staff to go along with it and a free decorator and unlimited budget, I'll stick with #1. Enjoyed looking at all of them. Love these posts!

  7. Wow-oh-wow! Reading (lusting) through this post resulted in a response something akin to Meg Ryan's memorable performance in When Harry Met Sally. Yes, I WILL have what she's having ;-)

    1. It's called a DecORGASM Betsy LMHO.................
      I have them a lot :)

  8. These had me at HELLO!! LOL! These are just extravagent, every detail is more beautiful than the next. I love number 1 the most but I would take them all!!!

  9. Hi Suzan!!!!

OKAY, OKAY I have to say this...You can't stop me!!!!!

    WHAT A TEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's ridiculous what we have to compared to and what they can get for their money!!! It's robbery here!!!! All three of them are gorgeous!!! I would love anyone of them. Even if they gave me the barn and I was allowed to convert it into a house. All the beautiful history!!! That's what drives me to be like Meg Ryan (perfect example from Betsy).

Could you get anymore elegant than this? Could you imagine having a party and the dancing ends up on the lawn!!! This is what dreams are made of.

Thank you for taking us back to France. Merci beacoup mon cher ami!!!

Can't say it enough...They are just gorgeous!!!!!

    1. ....guess I did that wrong LOL.

Merci beacoup mon chere ami !!!!!!

      Is that better....LOL!!!

  10. Is this price right for the first one? I love that stone house. It is manageable. I couldn't hire enough staff for the others and my staff here refuses to move overseas. They are decorgasmic! (You have to trademark that term!)

  11. Suzan, all three are gorgeous, but that first one stole my heart. Love, love the rock and the inside is just so cozy. I am adding a skirt to two of my cabinets in my basement farmhouse kitchen. Getting so ansey to start decorating. lol! They are setting the granite as I type.

  12. Tell me again why we live in Canada? $700,000 for that AMAZING!!! property, OMG. Even the first one at a mere $300,000 is a steal and gorgeous and I'm packing my bags right now.....I wish.

    1. How does it even make sense Heather?
Unbelievable how ripped off we are!

  13. Thanks for the dream...I don't wanna wake up!!

  14. No, I think their prices are adjusted for all the square miles of wall paper you have to remove if you buy the place.

  15. I may pass out from inspiration overload! The couches. The settees. The grounds. Oo la la! Tres magnifique!! Thanks for the tours.

  16. My mom says she chooses the first one: she wants it delivered with a gardener, a cleaning lady and a cook. I can give you her personal address by mail if you want!

  17. WOW! STUNNING! And the prices...wish I had the money. Oy! Just gorgeous, love this series :)

  18. You are one big dreamer girl and i love ya for it!!

  19. I want the cottage!! I am getting a little misty-eyed just thinking about it...

  20. Suzan, you found some beauties. Can you just imagine the staff one would need for some of these properties?

  21. I could sit out on the lawn for hours! I would love for you to share this at my linky party.

  22. i want it. i need to move to normandy. honey, my birthday is coming up.

    1. Ok - I'll be your neighbour - because I need to move there too!

  23. These houses are wonderful. The first one is definitely my favorite. Thanks for sharing these with your readers!

    1. Thanks for taking the tour with me Lynn!!!

  24. What a delightful tour- it's always fun to see what houses go for around the world-
I'm on the East coast in the US and we're quite bit pricey for what you get- sort of makes you dream of moving across the pond!

Due to a large amount of spam ( that I'm tired of going back to posts and deleting ) I'll be using comment moderation from now on !!!
Can I beat these spammers at their own game? Probably not - but I'm going
to try my damnedest !!!
