Closed for Brain Repairs.................

Seriously - I don't know what happened - but I've drawn a blank - ( and that does NOT happen too often )

Think I'm missing a couple of vital " chips " to reboot

So I'm going to take the day off to replenish

You all have a wonderful weekend!!!

Much love,

French Provincial

J'adore French Provincial - quand il est peint dans un style
" shabby chic "
J'ai trouve ces sur Craig's list et Kijiji ( pour les Americaines - Kijiji est la meme chose que EBAY )

D'accord - nous allons commencer

And we will now officially revert to English for the rest of the post LOL ( just felt like showing off a little)

Here's a few items listed for sale this week from both sites
250.00 will get  you the sofa - 2 chairs - the coffee table and 2 end tables
All you need is paint and some gorgeous fabric and this set could be a dream come true!
( we had that couch set in gold brocade when I was growing up and I HATED it with a passion - looking back I wish I had it now - these were built to last - and make the most beautiful pieces when refurbished with a bit of taste!!!

And don't look at it the way it is now - Here's how it could look with a little work -

Then there's this one - which I think was 500 for the couch and settee - just gorgeous right?

Why would anyone go to a big box store and by a generic looking couch made in China???
Both these chairs are listed at 300 ( and you could probably negotiate ) again don't look at them the way they are

they could easily resemble this gorgeous chair from Restoration Hardware - again with paint and fabric - not identical for sure - but they could still be stunning accent pieces

this piece would WILL make a beautiful changing table in a nursery - the size is perfect ( just heard back from the seller - and it's mine - pick up tomorrow )

Some of you may remember when I transformed this

and these

into this pretty set

Where there is French Provincial - there is potential - 99.9 % of the time - no matter how terrible it looks - which is why tonight I'll be busy working on this

Because the place this type of furniture does not belong is in a garage stuffed into a corner - forgotten about - or worse - a landfill..................

Have a great Thursday all - Come back tonight for the Bloglovin blog hop - it's a great way to meet new people!!!

I WANNA live there # 40

I live in a pretty incredible area - in Montreal, It's an historical neighbourhood loaded with tons and tons of charm - and 20th century architecture, just steps away from the city center, it's also a pretty expensive neighbourhood ( in which I live in servants quarters basically compared to what I'm surrounded by )
Because there are days I don't have furniture makeovers to show you - I've chosen Wednesdays to showcase and feature one or two homes that are for sale around here.................( or apartment - or duplex - or teepee )
Keep in mind this is in the heart of the city - so the prices reflect that  - think Manhattan - where these places would cost 3 or 4 times what they're listed for here!
On occasion I'll showcase beautiful homes in other areas - countries - continents - the one thing most of them will have have in common will be their age - because I love old homes with stories to tell, join me won't you?

Canada and Australia, Shared History

Though a world apart, Canada and Australia have much in common. As countries they share not only an important heritage through the British connection, but also strong historical links including the many personalities and events that have shaped them.
One of the oldest connections is Captain James Cook, whose navigational experience in the Gulf of St Lawrence on Canada’s east coast led not only to his survey of Australia’s east coast, in 1770, but also the Pacific Coast of Canada in 1778.

Transportation of Canadian Convicts 1840

One of the most interesting historical links that led ultimately to the establishment of responsible government in both countries was the ill-fated Rebellions of 1837-1838 and the transportation of two groups of Canadian convicts.
The rebels, one group from Upper Canada (English speaking) and the others from Lower Canada (French speaking) agitated for representative government against the domination of the unelected British Legislative Councils. Both rebellions were quashed and many of the participants transported to Australia as convicts. Ninety-two followers of William Lyon Mackenzie, in Upper Canada, were sent to the harsh penal colony in Van Diemen’s Land (now Tasmania).

Why couldn't one of my ancestors have spoken up to the government?
If they had - I may have been waking up to this tomorrow morning............

I wonder why they didn't keep the criminals in Canada - where the winters are
as tough a punishment as any on the planet -
why did they get to go to paradise?

"Send these traitors to a place where there's warm tropical breezes and turquoise oceans............
And the rest of you can get to enjoy this for half the year"

Geniuses - all of them................

And before I leave you - this one just came on the market -
For bids in excess of 830,000 .................
4 beds, 3 baths
VICTORIA

I'm too tired to upload all the photos - so if you're interested you can click HERE

Besides - I have a lot of family research to do - and if I find out that anyone in my bloodline so much as stole a penny.................
I'm going to demand they send me ( and my family ) retroactively to Australia to serve out the sentences they most definitely should have ( I'm very honorable that way )

Have a great Hump Day All!!!

oh and one more little bit of trivia - Australia just ranked # 1 for the happiest place on earth.............
