LIttle Miss Muffett

Sat on her tuffet - ok I know this isn't a tuffet ( don't even know what a tuffet is - is it a little footstool?) but if she had this chair I know she would have been sitting on it instead - and children's literature would have been forever changed................

Little Miss Claire
Sat on her chair doesn't have the same ring to it does it? Ok - I'll work on that.

I was actually going to go out today and buy some Curds ( no really I was, I " get " into this, you know )
and then I could have made some POUTINE after I took the photos - and if you don't know what Poutine is please click on the link - this is an extremely popular dish here in good old Montreal - it's actually a heart attack on a plate - but you would die happy, I promise you AND you will not find this anywhere else.
Julie - try this - you'll love it, I swear!  And even if the picture of it throws you off still make it. Google the recipe.

Anyway I changed my mind because I would have had to deal with a spider towards the end and that was a little too much - even for me.

Remember this antique beauty I found?

before, after, reupholstered, painted, annie sloan chalk paint

I cannot tell you how much that fabric stunk - God it was bad - I had to hermetically seal it lol ( and the padding underneath ) but the odor lingered in my living room for awhile - I sprayed a ton of febreeze for
a couple of days.

I painted it in Paris Grey and White ( Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - waxed it - - reupholstered it including brand new odor free padding ( and added a little stencilled pattern on the seat )
And here she is now

antique, rocking chair, ascp, chalk paint

reupholstering, fabric, stencil, paint

What do you think - should I start writing kids books - or stick to furniture?
It's now sitting in a little girl's nursery - I'll leave the books to Doctor Seuss...................

  1. Hmmmm I think furniture lol
And I say that because you did an amazing job on that chair. I love the grey and white back, it is such a cute cute chair. And you brought that out, love the colours. great job
    hugs Tobey

  2. Such a mousey (and stinky) rocker to turn into a Parisian beauty! ~ Maureen

  3. That is so pretty! Love what you did with it.

  4. What a neat chair!! Great transformation, love the colour combo. The dark wax sometimes is just too much. I like your idea of dry brushing the grey on the details, I think it will be a little more subtle.

(I just finished a Paris Grey and Old White table. Great minds! Won't be able to post it til my return.)

You could both write AND paint, come up with a little poem on the tag for each piece, now that would be a unique twist, lol!

  5. Your redo looks much better than the original chair! Much better!

  6. furniture is going pretty good i might hold off on the kids book lol j/k have a great weekend

  7. Stick to furniture are good, real good!!! I may rush out to our local Ashtons for a poutine myself!!

  8. WOW! That is amazing! This is one of my favorite makeovers I've seen in a while!

  10. Beautifully recreated! The colors are wonderful.

  11. Beautiful transformation, Suzy! I love the two different paint colors.

  12. Love the chair, not so much the poem. ;)
Seriously, you did an amazing job on the chair! I love it!!
    Debbie, you're newest follower :)

  13. Claire, a chair, a female chair...

Is this a nursing rocker? or a child's? A nursing rocker is full size on the top and bottom, but has short legs so a mother with a baby can easily stand up from it.

    It doesn't really matter - she's a beauty!

    Came over from Charmer.

  14. This is a beautiful little rocker. I think you chose the perfect color to paint it and the seat stencil is lovely.

  15. Your rocker really is a make over to cherish. My mom has an old small rocker she got from my grandmother and she said it was a sewing rocker. Thanks for sharing on Coastal Charm linky party.

    1. Good to know - thanks Cathy ( you're a no reply blogger btw )

  16. I actually didn't mind the beginning about Little Miss Claire who sat on her chair. The rocker is adorable so continue with that skill.

Visiting from You're Gonna Love It Tuesday.

  17. such a cute little thing! my goodness!

  18. That is a gorgeous chair! The silver and white look so classy.

    1. thanks so much Nicole - you're a no reply blogger so unless you come back to this post you won't know how appreciated your stopping by was :(

  21. Beautiful little rocker! And the colors are so pretty!

  22. Oh my goodness! She's smiling! She loves that you got rid of the stinky pad and dingy brown! She's a real beauty :-) Thanks for sharing her at the party this week!

  23. Ok, I am completely in love with her!!!!!! She's so pretty!

  24. Sweet Lady, stick to the furniture. You are awesome at that and we are going for awesomeness here.
That chair is adorable. I love the two toned treatment and the stenciled seat. Home run, outta the park.
    Hugs, Ginger

  25. Excuse me while I pick up my jaw off the floor.

  26. What a fabulous transformation! Great job!

  27. That looks great! Love it! I have Canadian Satellite and I see Poutine all the time. Looks so yummy. I am always humming, Swisssss Chalet! Couldn't find one on our trip up to Vancouver a few years ago...and never got a chance to go to a Tim Hortons!!! :) Someday!

  28. Beautifully done Susan. Thanks for sharing at Shabbilicious Friday this week.

  29. I say "stick to furniture" because this chair is so pretty! Well done!

  30. LOVE the chair's new look!!!

  32. What a great chair! It looks so much better painted. Cute rhyme :) Thank you for linking this up to Rustic Restorations Weekend!

  33. Ooooh, what a great color combo! I started on a couple of chairs that only vaguely resemble yours and I was wondering how to paint them. I think the two-tone look is great! I will have to see what 2 colors I have that go good together & look good on a chair.

  34. Very pretty and delicate Suzan! What a lovely change!
thank you for sharing this week at the Creative Inspirations party at Embracing Change!
    Stacey :o)

  35. That doesn't even look like the same piece of furniture. You did an amazing job on it. Muffet will be thrilled.

  37. Your work is always beautiful and this is no exception! Hope you are well!

    Take care,

  38. Hmm... I would say furniture, but you wrote a nursery rhyme that incorporated my fave food - poutine. I gotta give you credit for that! :)

Thanks for linking up to our Keep Calm & Link Up party - hope to see you again this Thursday!

  39. Beautiful! I would love for you to drop by My Dream Canvas. I am also hosting a giveaway to win a 50 dollar gift card to HomeGoods. Do please enter the giveaway if you like :)

  40. Very nice, I had to laugh about the smell. Check out my blog and see the French Chair I did, I totally had to vacuum and clean after ripping out the nasty stuffing. Made me a bit sick, next time I will wear a mask, you never know what is inside those chairs! Anyway it is a great makeover.

  41. Suzan,
Sorry this is late, but better late then never. Thanks so much for sharing with last weeks with Wednesday's Adorned From Above. The link party is open now for this week. I really like the stencil on this chair. I just bought a end table to redo and I am thinking about doing a stencil on it.
